Barbaresco is an Italian wine made with the Nebbiolo grape and is one of the great wines of the Piedmont region in north-western Italy.
Barbaresco is often compared with Barolo which is another Nebbiolo based wine from the Piedmont area in Italy. Though the wines do share many similarities, there are some distinct differences between them. Barbaresco is considered the lighter of the two and has less rigorous DOCG regulations. Food pairings: Meat such as beef, game and stews, poultry, pasta with strong tomato flavours and old strong cheeses.
