Gewurztraminer (Gewürztraminer in German-language areas) is an aromatic white wine grape variety, and performs best in cooler climates. "Gewürz" means "herb" or "spice" in German.
The grapes are pink skinned and the variety has a distinctive lychee or sweet rose aroma, with passionfruit, ginger, and floral notes. The variety is grown around the world in parts of Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Luxembourg and The United States. Food pairings: Duck, chicken, pork certain seafood dishes, spices, herbs, cheeses and vegetable dishes.
