Muscadelle is a white wine grape variety which has a simple aroma of grape juice and raisins like grapes of the Muscat family of grapes, but they are unrelated. Muscadelle is a blending grape in Sauternes for the production of the famous sweet, white Bordeaux wines. In Australia this grape is planted under the name of Tokay and was thought for years to be the Hárslevelu varietal that plays a big part of the Hungarian dessert wine Tokaji. Food pairings: salty cheeses, nuts and certain types of breads. As Muscadelle is intensely sweet is can be too sweet to pair with desserts.
