Sangiovese (or Nielluccio in Corsica), a dark-berried wine, is the most widely planted grape variety in Italy. Wines made from Sangiovese usually have medium-plus tannins and high acidity. The flavour profile can be said to be of sour red cherries with earthy aromas and tea leaf notes. Food pairings: Sangiovese pairs with a wide range of foods because of its medium weighted body and savoury character such as rare steaks, roasted game birds (or wild boar), rich chicken or mushroom dishes or anything with a tomato base.
