The USA has established itself as a top wine producing nation and is the largest producer of the new world regions. American wine production dates back to the early European settlers as long ago as the 16th century. Currently each state in America is producing wine, however California alone produces around 90% of all American wine production. The dry and sunny climate make California the perfect conditions for grape growing. Some of the wine grapes that this new world region is best known for include: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Zinfandel.
